Yeah, it was pretty straight forward what happened.  It didn’t load your profile, however you still have the old one, I have seen it happen before.  What you need to do is just find the profile directory and overwrite the new profile with the old one.

Start Menu > choose Run > type %appdata% (hit enter) > double click Mozilla > Firefox > Profiles > You should now see 2 directories.  One of them is older than the other one, both of them have weird names.  Simply go into the older folder and press CTRL + A (select all) > CTRL + C (copy) > go back to the other directory > CTRL + V

Make sure that the directory you are copying has your stuff in it.  You will notice that the bookmarks.html will be bigger in file size and there will be a bunch of stuff in the extensions sub folder for the older one.

Doesn’t look like it wants to work, it only gives me one profile and that looks like the default one (.default). Well looks like opera is gonna keep on being used, its annoying though flash doesn’t work that well in it.

    Thanks anyways.

worked to fix 2 other computers for me. It must of actually uninstalled before it installed. Just in case on your desktop hit F3 (find) and search your entire computer for bookmarks.html, make sure to check in the advanced options to search through hidden and system folders. Perhaps the profile is just somewhere else.

If not, just start over. New extensions etc… Nice and clean, still better than opera. Hell if you want to make sure you never loose your profile again, just go and download Firefox PortableI have this on my keychain (flash drive). Yet I can go anywhere, pop it in, and instantly have all of my extensions and bookmarks.

Also because I tend to have so many computers in case I don’t have that I use “foxmarks” add-on, so that it synchronizes my bookmarks with the server and if I update in one browser, all the other computers also see updates.

One of these days I will finish my “smartass recommends” and all the firefox add-ons that don’t suck.

The BIG problem is that whenever I quit firefox I have to go off and put all my buttons back on all for the sake of having all my buttons there for me. I’ve also tried doing an uninstallation (not a so called “Complete” uninstallation, its still a pain. I’m thinking of working with the default profile, maybe copy it, rename or check if there is read only set. Any way to create profiles?
