See I could do more in flash if I liked it but I just do not like it at all. I don’t like having to use a program to string together my site, I want it all written in notepad or something that just makes the text pretty colors so I can see where my errors are. As I’m writing this post I am coding it in HTML on the fly because to me that is easier than clicking a button on the toolbar to insert a link or a picture. I suppose that is kind of sad really, but I don’t like flash so I will not pursue it.

Basically I opened up a hole when I was trying to show somebody an old page from archive.org. The very second I unblocked archive.org from my robots.txt the site index got rewritten. Yes, somebody had hacked archive.org which in turn hacked my page while it indexed it and displayed an old page.

I was in the middle of a conversation with somebody and i didn’t actually notice for 20-30 minutes later. As soon as I noticed I fixed the problem and locked out all the bad shit…

Well that was a good theory anyways. The Deli Hacker or whatever it was is gone but somebody has been fucking with my wordpress blogs with some shitty exploit. Seems they are trying to secretly redirect all my search engine traffic to their site instead of mine. However they are doing this very badly and everytime they manage to insert the secret redirect code they insert it into the middle of a file that I already have filled with other redirects and people I ban from the site.

This causes my site to go down and say it’s not redirecting properly, or if you go straight to the blogs it sends you to google with a search result of Go Fuck Yourself (which is where i send some of my shitty banned traffic).

I have tried several things to secure my site better, but it seems wordpress is a big fucking hole where people shit in and I am too deep into wordpress to get rid of it now. Alas, the site will never be down for more than an hour because I can always fix whatever breaks within a couple minutes of noticing the problem.

Still, I will track down the place that is breaking my site by trying to steal my traffic and then do all sorts of nasty things to them.

Thesmartass.info was founded by a great man (James Lyngaas) on January 10th 2001. It was started as a personal start page that had a Google search engine and a bunch of high quality links on it (and a background picture of a hot nurse holding a stethoscope to a computer).

A friend said, hey cool page… If you add this link to the page I will make it my homepage too… and so on and so forth.

The only real purpose for the site was to be helpful to me. So I kept adding things that interested me like random artwork and random quotes to keep showing up at my own page interesting… I had previously run a couple popular website called animeden.com and animesins.com (don’t bother looking for them now, I stopped paying for them so whatever is there now is shit) and decided to just expand my site to add anything else that could keep me interested and figured if other people liked it too then good deal.

To be honest with you though, I still do not make it for other people. So if I design something that somebody doesn’t understand then it’s their job to figure out how to use it. I mean I get 3 questions a day asking me what the controls for the video games are or if they can use a controller, but all that info is in bright colors at the top of the same menu they managed to figure out how to load games on… So I just can’t feel empathetic to their plight.

What I will do though is [no not right now, in a couple months... yes a couple months, it's a realistic time frame] make a help section and have screenshots with every single section and big ass arrows pointing to all the fancy bits as well as text instructions on the screen as to how to do some of the advanced things, or the functionality that I have hidden from virtually everybody but still exists.

Then I can feel even less empathetic towards the problems people having using the site since there will be a bloody tutorial w/screenshots for every single page.

Forgive my assholedness for I know not who I offend.

I have a couple things I want to create for WTF. I will tell you one of them because I am sure I can make it.. The other one I am not sure yet…

So one thing I will eventually make is a whiteboard… where you can write messages on it that the rest of the world can see. However I don’t want it to be just a shared ajax-based whiteboard like my fridge, I want it to have a bunch of drag and drop images like smiley faces and guns and a bunch of other icons that can make a story. I figure you could make some interesting things with a contraption like this and I have never seen it done before on the net… So I have plans to make that.

Problem is there is only 1 of me and a ton of shit for the site to do. At the beginning of October I thought my theater page had enough content that I could just do basic movie maintenance and not need to add much more for awhile while I wrote tutorial for A Smartass Education and made new gadgets for the site. Well, then a shit storm hit the site because I was linking most of my videos to a site that decided to delete 17,000 files on a whim. I was gone for 2 weeks and came back to see I had 600+ anime episodes removed, all my movie trailers gone, documentaries all dead, stand-up was half dead… blah blah… now I am just playing catch up and restoring the broken shit little by little. When that is done I will totally add some WTF again because I like having strange little things that can waste time online!

Nope… Sorry, I only put anime series that I think are phenomenal on here. There are a bunch of those I don’t have online now and have to put those all up before I go for the b rate stuff. In fact, I will never go for the b rate stuff…

Just go there and search around until you find somebody who uploaded a ton of it. and when they don’t have the episode you need search some more to find it. They took a huge hit recently but it seems nothing can keep anime down so people are uploading everything again that was lost…

Yes, you can view movies free… I had a popular site before I added the movies, however the movies took my site from being like caffeine to being like cocaine. I am hoping that with enough time I will be able to make the site like heroin and at that point people will just throw gobs of money at me.

Until then, the only benefit I get is that people keep coming back to my website over and over and stroking my ego. Meh, it could be worse… I could of paid $30,000 for smartass.com like the dueche that actually bought it. Then make a shitty worthless site that hasn’t been updated in several years (he thought it would be a good investment and that someday somebody would just have to buy the name from him and he would strike it rich…).

Ok, so one guy asks why there are so many naked people and another asks why the pictures are creepy. It’s the same bloody answer.

It’s artwork and I like it!

I’ll expand on that… When I was younger I kept all my dark and depressing shit inside… Then one day I snapped and never wanted to do that again. So now If I like something dark, I will do it / say it / express it in someway. If I am feeling depressed or something I will write a blog post, because so long as it’s on the outside I can see it and don’t have to think about it anymore. I highly recommend expressing all your feelings even the shitty ones in some way so that your mind is not clouded with the crap 24 / 7 / 365

I wouldn’t say there is SO much. Here’s how it work. I find artwork that I like and I put it on the site…. Because it is my site. There are a few pictures here but they are all artistic. It’s not distasteful and nobody’s fucking/sucking etc… It’s all painted or something so none of it’s real. It’s ART.

If you have an issue with an occasional naked woman showing up on a random site then you have some issues to work out about yourself.

An excuse to get Peruvian Traffic to my site. Which will then cause me to decide to redirect the Peruvian traffic back to Yahoo.

I am considering an atari, master system… ah, the only thing worth playing on that was fantasty zone so I doubt it… And for all the #$^$# who keep asking for a SNES, It will be here the day it exists in java and doesn’t suck. At this point it’s just not an option.
