Important!

The new Nano 3G and New classics video ports was moved to the large pin connector. (just redesigned)

There is no special chips.

There are 3rd party cables available for us low as 10 bucks (including shipping), Just search ebay.

It was a redesign and the video is no longer in the ear phone jack and it was not apple just wanting you to purchase there video cables.

In the older ipods the video coming through the audio port was changed around just so you could use standard headphones. (no other reason)

it doesnt work for the ipod nano 3rd gen. either…. those fuckers! they try to find any possible way to make money, like they dont already have enough!!!

i refuse to let them win this battle… i wont buy that damn cable no matter bad i want it and i’ll find a freaking way to hack it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don’t own an iPod classic but an iPod nano (3rd generation) and I still got that same message! All my videos worked fine and all of a sudden this message pops up and nothing plays.

I HATE MY IPOD CLASSIC AT FIRST I FELL IN LOVE WITH IT BUT THEN NEXT THING U KNOW IT GETS ALL MES T UP AND IT SAY “TV OUT ENABLED ” I HATE IT AND NOW I FIND OUT U HAVE TO BUY A $100 CHIP FOR IT THIS SO SUCKS !!!!

I am going to try this, and I’m sorry to everyone whos having issues with the classic ipod… I’ve contacted apple and they are trying to figure this out, because they have had a mulititude of complaints… but video ipod is great and they were on sale after christmas so to have bought a classic is just retarted.

Ipod classics DO NOT have a special chip in them that doenst alow the to be played on tvs…

I have a Classic 160 and can not get the video out to work either. I’m forced to get a $49 cable from Apple for a feature I’ve already paid for. What about all the other products out there. One of the main reasons I chose an iPod was the plethora of toys available. What else can we expect to run into. Maybe a future software update will cripple something else when they want a 1/4 point stock boost. Video was another main purchasing criterion. This will be the last red cent Apple gets out of me. I hope they choke on it.

classic gives big issues… I finally bought 1… now i have 2 ipods… but i only bought it because the non-classic ones have an AMAZING firmware replacement called RockBox (google it to find). but to my dismay they haven’t decrypted the classic and it won’t work… makes the entire ipod totally worthless to me. Anyways this was written w/my old one. Doesn’t work on classic… just video

That is so frustrating abd ridiculous! I had the same exact experience as Luke and couldn’t understand why it didn’t work. I’m starting to think maybe I should have found a device other than an ipod.

I Googled “TV out enabled” and found a lot of unhappy iPod Classic customers. It seems the Classic video is controlled by a video-out chip and must be used in conjunction with Apple’s own video composite cable AND an iPod universal dock, costing roughly $100 over the price of the iPod Classic itself.

Hey mate,

New iPod Classic 160GB…

“TV Out Enabled
Please Connect Video Accessory”

I already had my 1/8″-to-RCA Cable connected and it still asked me this. It displays the message above and has an image of a connect that would connect into the bottom.

So I started to think you may need a dock for this, if thats the case its stupid. Any idea’s?

I tried the RED cable to yellow and all that and no luck, still comes up the message and I even tried to trick it by plugging a USB cable in yep… no luck haha.

umm… i also tried the PAL and NTSC, nothing yet has worked.
