Windows go up, or is it down?

So today was the day to tear off the door panels and attempt to fix the window motor on my car. See what has been happening is when you push any window button on the drivers side all the windows and the sun roof open. Then when you exit the car and arm the security system, the windows roll down somewhat, and occasionally wait till you are away from the car to roll down. Now they are supposed to roll up and stay closed when you arm the car, but what fun would life be if things did what they were supposed to…
My buddy had brought over his dremel, so we proceeded to widen the holes in the car frame that the wires run through (since they were to tight and the wires cut themselves everytime the door closed). Then I snake some split tubing through the wider holes to prevent the wires from getting cut. Man it would of been nice to be a 3′ tall Japanese midget with tiny hands while trying to snake that cabeling through…..
Anyways my friend left and I had to rerun new wires and soldier them. Yeah! This gives me a chance to use my new “cold heat” soldiering iron, that runs on batteries and instantly heats up hot enough to melt soldier. It worked pretty well, but not as well as advertised. I mean you still need to have soldiering skills, they pitched it that you just touch it and instantly your wires and soldier are bonded together, but that’s not true, you still have to hold it there for awhile to get the soldier to absorb.
Anyways I test the windows and they work perfectly so I reassemble the car… heh, well now the doors don’t unlock when the car turns off, or unlock when you disarm the security system. Not sure how that happened, will have to research what wires do what, there had been an extra wire but it was from a window modulator, and I was 95% sure it was a ground, so that’s what I did…
All in all I am glad my windows work again, you don’t know how frustrating it is to walk away from you car and come back to see the windows and sun roof completely open after you know they were closed when you left.
