Oh Deer!
Thursday, December 22nd, 2005 | Uncategorized
So tonight I was in Fort Atkinson helping my father setup his electronics in his new house. While I was there I talked to one of my friends who lives around there and he said that I was supposed to be at their Christmas…. Which was the next day.
So I went over there but then decided I was bored and had things to do at home so I decided to go home for the night and come back tomorrow.
On the way home I stopped at the computer store to get a Knoppix cd and an ethernet cable so that I could help get my friends computer working correctly the next day.
While I was there I got the sudden urge to sell my car. I mean sure, I had been thinking about it before but I just decided to say screw it, and sell it tonight. Only took me one phone call to sell it.
I sold it to a kid who had always liked it, he knew it leaked oil and I told him that the front bumper was beatup from a guy sliding into the car and would need to be replaced. Well he still wanted the car. So I hung up and started driving home…
Of course on the way home there was a deer crossing the road…. I hit the breaks and managed to stop before it, but apparently there was ANOTHER deer coming a little ways behind. Even though my car was stopped the deer was not and slammed into the corner of the car.
It smashed the headlight cover and dented the quarter panel…
Yeah, so now I’m happy… I just decide to sell it, call a guy, he decides to buy it at my price and then I have to get the car beatup even more.
Well I had enough irony for this night. The next morning I called to 13 salvage yards to see if they had prelude lights there but none of them even had preludes at all~!
Eventually I just looked up better, cooler projection headlights on ebay and found a full set was only $130 with shipping. I talked to the guy who wanted my car and he agreed that if I threw in my mp3 cd player and helped him install the projectors when they came that we still had a deal.
Heh, I thought the only thing that sucked about Wisconsin was the weather. That will teach me….. I think the deer actually lived and just ran the opposite direction after it hit me. It’s not often that people can say that they didn’t hit a deer but that a deer hit them, well I can!
Still, what a pain in the ass…

So, do you have another vehicle lined up or is the site of your most recent coup attempt within walking distance of home? I’ve seen where you live. Nothing is really in walking distance… I can always talk to Holly and see about getting you a horse? I think hay is cheaper than gas right now…
