What’s a Furnace?
Thursday, May 8th, 2008 | Life
So the house I live in is always ridiculously cold. I mean I moved to a place that never drops below 40f and I figured even in winter here I would be warm.
WRONG
So Shane/Vicky were on a trip to Fiji for the last few days and I took the opportunity to look around for a thermostat or some kind of device to increase the temperature in the house. Well I couldn’t find shit, and have been sitting around in a blanket or 2 everyday not doing much of anything.
I wake up in the morning and start to remove the covers and then I just put them back on and stay in bed for an hour or two longer than I had intended to just because it’s so damn cold.
Now, Nancy if you are reading this I know you would appreciate the house being cold all the time, but I do not understand how people function or motivate themselves to do anything when they are cold. I know, I should exercise to get warm right? 2 cold 2 move… fuck it. Do you see the problem?
So anyways, I figured I was just not looking in the right place and surely there was some type of heating system here. So when Vicky got back I asked her if they had a furnace. She gave me the weirdest look and said “What’s a furnace?”. My jaw dropped a little bit and I explained that it provided heat to the house and she said noooo we don’t have anything like that.
The bathroom has a window that cannot fully close, so if that is left open the whole house drops to the outside temperature overnight. Also 2 of the people who live here smoke so the back door is open for that all the time. This doesn’t bother me at all because they both work a lot and it’s only at night that the door is open most of the time. However when the doors aren’t open the windows typically are.
That is how the house heats. By letting the cold air in, since despite it being cold outside, it is normally colder inside.
Me thinks everybody is a little confused, but my feet and hands are ice cold right now, and i have them under 2 blankets.
