Long-ass Drive

Monday, May 1st, 2006 | Helpful

I don’t have too much extra time right now, but I figured several people told me to call them when I got to my place in Arizona, but my phone battery was dead so this is what you get instead.

I got in at about 7pm (Mountain Standard). My roommate is pretty cool, I think we will get along well. The house is a little further out of the area than I wanted it to be, so we’ll see if I get used to it, since I would like to stay.

It was a crazy long drive. First day I drove 1200 miles only stopping for gas and food, however at 5 am or so I was starting to see the white lines on the street in 3D. I was pretty sure they weren’t supposed to be that way and there was a cop following me (since there was NOBODY else on the road) so I took that as a sign to exit and get a hotel.

Stayed at the Ritz, it was a nice place but probably wasn’t necessary since I only slept for 4 hours and then got back on the road. Oh well…

Once I was in AZ there was this highway (87) that I was on for 140 miles. It was entirely through mountains and mostly downhill. With a heavy weighted down car just going down the hill the car would get up to 90mph without accelerating, I didn’t want to stress out my breaks too much so where it was safe to do so I let it go that fast (believe me I wasn’t the only one). Down this hill there are a ton of memorial signs for people who have died going down this big ass fast hill, so I was pretty observant.

Anywho, I am off like a prom dress.
