Grr… Is It Really That Hard To Spell My Name?
Friday, September 29th, 2006 | Helpful
Ok, So I am buying a car. A 2003 Mini Cooper with GPS to be exact. The problem is, I did not have quite enough to just outright buy it. So I needed a loan.
Ok no big deal right? Ya just go down to the bank and sign a couple papers and agree to give them your first born if you screw up right? Seems things have changed. Now Bank of America tells me that the only way to apply for an Auto Loan is to do it through their website!!!! Fine, whatever, I am a tech savvy guy, whatever works.
Well during my first application the website spit out an unknown error. Of which I can only assume should of said “time out, to bad, so sad, do it again”. However I was still left with no choice but to start over. I get done and it pre-approves me for 1k less than I am looking for…. Of course. So I finish the rest of the app and am told to check back with the website for status on it.
Well I did the next day and nothing was happening so I called around and got somebody in Las Vegas named (not joking) “Paris France”, Yes, that was my loan officer’s name. She told me that because I submitted 2 apps, that it gets clogged and won’t go through, so she deleted the first one. Fine, so i want 1k more…. She calls me back later that day to tell me they won’t give me more. Grr, whatever. I will manage without, just give me a check.
Well first we need to send both you, AND the seller paperwork that you will need to sign and mail back. (me) Can’t I just take it to the bank and be done with it and get a check there? ……….No, sorry it doesn’t work that way, but don’t worry. It will go through pretty quick if you send the paperwork back right away, so long as you don’t cross anything out since it is a legal document. (me) Sure no problem, I’ll be looking for it.

So it showed up today, and OF COURSE Every single page I had to cross out the spelling of my last name since people have this uncanny knack to just write ass instead of aas. However, I will not let them put a loan on my credit and a title for my car in the wrong name. I am sorry, but from working in credit for awhile I know this might flag my credit with discrepancies every single time credit is run etc…
So I am hoping they will accept this paperwork as is, since this mailing things back and forth thing is BS. Tomorrow sometime I need to get to the bank anyways so that I can get a power of attorney form notarized (and to my sister, yes, that is free in Arizona). I don’t know why, while I am there I can’t just give them to the bank and have them give me a check. I am hoping that this all goes through quickly or else the guy selling it might just turn around and sell it to somebody else who just happens to see it.
Well, if I get it the below are pictures of it.
