Later I will be posting a torrent to my own custom contents of my memory stick. It has portable apps that run off the stick without installing like firefox, thunderbird, emulators, and well… all my repair tools etc… So best to be ready with a nice new memory stick when I upload that.

UPDATE: I got mine in the mail yesterday. This thing is TINY. It comes with a little metal keyring that I put on my keychain. It’s not even a MM thick and less than an inch long. Seriously for this price, this tiny little thing kicks ass.

So I have spent all sorts of time learning / working on AJAX. The new design of the site was supposed rely heavily upon it. However I have been fighting with it all this week only to decide that there are too many limitations to the scripts I need.

For example: You can’t load a full page with AJAX, the headers can’t be loaded which means I can’t have it load scripts inside of them…. ding ding ding. Then I was going to use another AJAX script to load all the breakout sections of this site into a lightbox type of thing. However that is limited by the type of content you can put in as well. I don’t need scripts in them, but It won’t let me put flash or a few other things in it…. Which makes it NOT HELPFUL to me again.

I have this vision for what the site is supposed to be and I thought I knew how to do it, but now I am thinking I need to take a different approach. I am going to keep trying to get it to be how I want, but it’s going to take me longer. Not to mention that I have been going bonkers trying to do all my work on my roommate’s laptop, which DOES NOT have the juice to multi-task like I need it to. I am still waiting for them to send me my bloody replacement mobo, and I always end up talking to the same asshole at MSI who likes to “accidently” hang up on me a lot when I ask him why they are being so inefficent!

I said I would launch site this week and I CAN… but you really don’t want me to with the state it’s in. Basically you would see shell of new design, with the old sections, loading a somewhat old way. So for now, just enjoy what’s here (like this new blog that everybody except 1 person was too lazy to register for).

See when I was at the resturant I got a call from Ken asking when I would be home and saying he would be home about the same time so we should go see The DaVinci Code.? It made good sense to me so I called him and said I would be home in 20 mins or so.

Of course, I wasn’t… Apparantly somebody decided that it would be a good idea to have a multiple car pile up on the highway BEFORE all the lanes narrow into one due to construction. So I sat and waited, and waited some more, and waited some more.? Eventually getting past the accident, I was still stuck going slow for another several miles due to construction, so when I got home it was just before 10pm.

Well we were not going to let that stop us, so I very quickly took a much needed shower and we went to the theater.

I had never read the book, and hadn’t even seen previews for the movie but I figured it would be pretty good with all the hype.? After all, it had some gorgeous dark haired foreign woman in it (and that Tom Hanks guy).? Movie didn’t really dissapoint.? If you have seen National Treasure that is what this was like… Only based on religion instead of national history.

Now no doubt will this movie piss off some fanatics, since it trys to prove whether Jesus was just a mortal man or not. Which led to an interesting story line for the movie/book.

When I got home, I put another pound of moisturizer on my now red skin and fell asleep instantly.

Slept a little better last night.? I mean not enough to get a cookie for or anything, but better.

Rob wanted to bike, we wanted to leave.. But it was his trip and he was going to ride, so we decided to take down camp and then go into town.? I was not about to walk around in the sun all day shopping so I stopped into the visitor center on Route 66 and got a pamphlet for the Lava Cave.? Figured we had enough time to go there while Rob was riding and since I had his vehicle, I figured I should make use.

It was further out than the pamphlet said it was and once we got to the roads leading to the cave, I really hoped that it was worth it because the roads were absolute shit to drive on.? I was glad I was in a big ass jeep.? Got there and read the pamphlet a bit more.? It said we should have 3 light sources per person and wear warm clothes since at the warm end it’s 45*.

That sounded like a nice change to me, of course we were kind of unprepaired and searched for light sources and only found 2.? My shitty flashlight that needed new batteries, and a coleman lantern.? Good thing Peg (again, wouldn’t be my first name for a cute asian girl, and it’s not really her name… but whatever) thought to bring that lantern because it was SO helpful giving us more light than anybody else that was wandering around the cave.

Cave wasn’t all that exciting, but it was far better than sitting around the camp site or wanding around Flagstaff.? It was about a mile long and some points I had to really scrunch up in order to get through.? After awhile I did wish I had some harder shoes since the ground terrain was all lumpy old lava which is not as flat as I had hoped.

We get back to camp and Rob is sitting in a chair staring angerly at us as we pull in.? Seems even though we left his tent (like he wanted), and his clothes so he could change… We had not left him the cooler.? So he was all pissed off, but such is life.

When he got (mostly) done packing up and being angry we went into town one last time for some dinner.? We at at some mexican place where we got 2 cute waitresses for the price of one, and the food was not bad either…

Left for home, when we got to Tempe I convinced Rob that we should go out to the Ice Cream Place he had been raving about all weekend (Coldstone).? Gotta say, it is a VERY impressive ice cream place.? There wa a big snaking line to get it as well.? I ordered a dipped waffle cone with “Knights in White Chocolate” Ice Cream and it was Damn Tasty, though next time I will remember to get a spoon even for a cone…

Left there and unpacked jeep and went home…

This guy once wrote that life is controlled by invisible strands of guilt, and the larger the strand the more it controls us. Now I cannot remember his name or his book, so I can’t better quote it, but the guy was onto something.

I do not like guilt or guilt-givers, but it is unavoidable. The more you try to avoid it the more guilt you are given. I mean it seems kind of selfish to me, but saying that a guilt-giver would say that ignorning the guilt would be even more selfish. It’s a bloody vicious cycle folks.

Fairly soon I will be forced to give into guilt so that I am not shunned by those close to me. Quite honestly I am a little pissed off about it, since it will cause future reprocutions as I will now have to avoid offering my help to those who need it until I have all the facts in. I mean it’s not that I will never help anybody again, but rather that I will have to say No to a lot more things to prevent guilt by association.

I mean I have even been threatened with guilt that travels hundreds of miles for something that shouldn’t be my problem but has been made to be. This post will probably piss somebody off. I tend to have that effect on people, but it will cause the annoyed person to say some defensive statements that try to add more guilt to my life.

I understand now why people become recluses. It’s a lot easier to just live your own life alone, because all you need is your own personal happiness to get through it.

My internet connection has been down since 6pm. Nobody besides us have reported an outage, and since everything I and the people of charter can figure out show that it is not my fault, I will have to wait for a tech.

Problem is one is not coming to the house until sometime Thursday if I still can’t connect then.

SO, at the moment I am stealing my neighbor’s internet connection. It’s actually pretty fast, I assume they don’t download torrents ; ) However the signal is VERY WEAK, so I can’t guarantee how long I will be online.

I am just glad I can get online and update some drivers for my new computer now ;) If the connection holds I will write more tomorrow.

Ok so I am now more than 3 days behind on my posts. A habit I thought i broke a long time ago. Well no matter, as instead of writing blog posts I have been rewriting parts of the site.

You can see the first part by going to Ask-a-Smartass, which is Now syndicated!!!!! Yes that’s right, all you crazy people with rss readers (or firefox) can now add live feeds to see what posts have been added. Also the newest posts will appear on top, and soon the newest question will appear on the front page as well… Of course that might be a bad idea since I do not moderate what people ask there and I imagine people would say shit just to see it on the front page…. So perhaps a random question instead…

At any rate, there is still 1 flaw… It should be fixed soon, but if you subscribe to the news feed and click the links, currently they just go to the ask a smartass page. They do not go directly to the question you are clicking on like they should. So that is my next priority.
