Some Things
Thursday, January 25th, 2007 | Life | 1 Comment
So I suppose I should make a post to say that I am back so everybody doesn’t think I am still trapped in Texas. I haven’t really felt like working on my site since I have been back, so lets just sum up what has happened since, and lets do the list in reverse…
-Got told by my insurance that my car has been in an accident or something before and that the damage to my car has been deemed “Wear and Tear” despite happening instantly they say it would of happened eventually due to faulty repairs. They will not cover my paint damage and once again prove to me that insurance is a scam since multiple insurance companies I have had in my life have never accepted one of my claims. That makes my car wash cost FARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR more than $254, in fact so much that I will either have to wait a month or two or get a normal job, grr…
-Rearranged my entire living room, my roommate doesn’t seem to care, but from my perspective the living room is at least 200 TIMES more efficient, has more space, is very clean and I can do a 360 with my recliner now without hitting the couch!!! During this entire night activity I broke my long time piece of glass and I just discovered one of my computer speakers is also dead.
-Had a couple power spikes that left my computer confused and unhappy, so I bought a UPS (battery) for it, in fact I bought 2 because the first one wasn’t powerful enough to support just my computer…
Grr… I would go back more, but after just talking to the insurance jack-holes I am a little annoyed and can’t think about anything else. I am probably going to drive over to see the guy who sold it to me and have a few words with him and one of the things he better say is lifetime guarantee on the paint from someplace.
Trapped in Texas

Just a quick note to say that I am currently stuck paying $100/night with no internet access in a dive called Boerne, TX. These southerners have no clue how to deal with freezing rain or any kind of “winter weather” so they close down the entire interstate.
How am I writing this you wonder? MAGIC! (And maybe a little help from my favorite mom.)
Same rules apply…I am going to be bored out of my mind for the next day or two so please feel free to call. All I have available for entertainment is watching the weatherman try to explain what black ice is when he and the other reporters really have no idea themselves.
Houston Detour

So I started my drive home west and I realized, though my directions told me to go through Dallas, it actually made more sense to just go straight home on i10. Hell, I live just off i10!!!
In coming to this conclusion, I said… Sweeeeeet, that means I can make one more stop and visit Mike and Marie in Houston. They are good friends and I haven’t seen them in a year or so.
Made the call and then the stop. Decided that I couldn’t really stay in Houston long, since I can only not work for so long (and I already have a website lined up to make when I get back), especially after that $254 car wash (yes, I am still mentioning it, because I am still upset about it).
I decided since I had only given them 4 hours notice and was asking to stay there, that I should do the kindest thing I could think of for them; which happened to be giving them half a pan of mixed nut bars. You laugh, but that is a very valuable commodity that I will not have for another year.
I came in and was greeted by not only them, but their dog Misty, who just happens to be one of the coolest dog’s ever. It doesn’t stink, It doesn’t bark (basenji) and it’s very smart. I said we should clone her, but was informed that the dog cloning has been stopped since they discovered that there was lots of cell degeneration in the clones ;(
We went out to Red Lobster and ate far too much and then watched some anime show I had never hear of called Gantz, where the entire cast apparently gets killed every couple episodes.
Doh, I seem to have just gotten a big chunk of my fingernail on my index torn off, that’s special… grr…
Anywho where was I, hmm… actually there is no more story at this point. I just woke up and needed something to do so I am writing this, I have not finished my visit yet. Well good times.
Back to AZ

-My money is drained, no thanks to the stupid car wash.
-My stomach is full, thanks to my mother
-The things I needed to get accomplished on my site have not been accomplished, no thanks to some server changes and bugs that they caused
-I saw my friends and family
-Slept and drove at same time
-Burned a huge number of coasters while trying to make the ultimate dvd
-Drank some good WI beer (and took some for the road… err, the fridge)
Well overall it was worth coming, though it cost a fuck-load more than I planned.
Yet, I am not home yet, so I don’t know if I will get any other expenses on the way.
Sorry to all who sent me text messages, I kept trying to reply but 9/10 times even with good signal It refused to send the messages, I can only assume this is because Louisiana is retarded.
Well, I leave in 20 minutes, so if you get bored at pretty much any time in the next day call me. My battery is dead but I have another and can charge in the car.
Ciao
My $254 Car Wash (with pics)

So I get to Louisiana and decided I shouldn’t go see my mother until I wash off the crap from my car trip.
At first I was going to go into an automatic car wash. I crept up on it and got on the HUGE ground rails and inched forward only to hear a shrieking noise that I could only assume was the underside of my car getting raped by the giant rails. So I backed out of that and found a hand wash place.
I threw in some quarters and proceeded to wash off my car. Well, I saw a spot on my car during the power wash that looked like some soap was sitting on my hood. So I aimed the sprayer at it and not but a second later and a huge chunk of coating (seems to be some kind of hard laminate that protects the paint and keeps it shiny) blew off.
Now by huge chunk I am not kidding, if you take your thumb and index fingers from both hands and make a circle out of them, it is still bigger than this.
So what does this mean? Basically I will need to have my entire hood repainted because this is not just a ding in the paint job. How it looks now I am guessing the value of my car is about $1000 lower than it was yesterday. What I will have to do is pay $250 to pay off my comprehensive deductible on my insurance to get it fixed.
Yes, that’s right. A car wash just cost me $254 dollars. I am not happy.

Truck Stop Stories

Ok, so I got to talking to some guy in a truck stop on my way to LA the other night. It all started because he was trying to play his psp but his battery was dead. Well we got talking and he told me all sorts of interesting things about his past.
Now, I took it with a grain of salt but the guy is either a mad genius or a well read compulsive liar. Either way is interesting to me.
Basically he pioneered his way around things. Before internet he was able to use electric outlets to send his compressed data from one place to another.
He told me of how the government picked him up when he hacked into a nuclear reactor. Though they said he actually optimized it with what he did, they have been trying to ruin his life ever since.
He knew all sorts of things about energy and data transference and had used some diodes that a lady at a hospital had given him once to create an oscilloscope on his computer which showed his brain waves.
He also told me he has a very keen sense of his mind and body through meditation and other things and how a woman at a grocery store was trying to read his mind and he felt it and thought some really fucked up evil thoughts and she started screaming and freaking out.
The problem he had, was that he would always tell people things how it was and wouldn’t sugar coat anything. As I well know, saying what you think can be dangerous. Well he won’t take lying from anybody and tends to get into fights over it.
Also, the government owes him 10 million dollars, though he has decided that using bible logic, that really means they owe him 100 million dollars. I got him to say that he would be ok with just getting the 10, but only if they would agree to leave him alone for the rest of his life.
Still gotta say, his stories were interesting and were just what I needed to keep on driving. I mean it was like smoking weed without actually doing it. All the deep thoughts and focus, without the smell or stigma.
On Way To LA

Left in the morning. Had breakfast with my friend Josh, per his request, which was kind of nice he put forth the effort. It was good and I drove on. Driving for awhile and not tired. Since I am going south through St. Louis, I decided to call a friend who JUST moved there not a few days earlier.
I met up with him and his wife and ended up fixing their computer, which for me tends to be hard to avoid, but I made my friend happy and got some tasty venison sausage for my efforts. I was there for longer than I planned, but it won’t matter. I am not in any great hurry, I just do not want to have to sleep on the way because I have so much junk that has been added to my car that to tilt the seat back would require me to rearrange everything into the drivers seat and then move it back again.. bah
I am currently writing this and a couple other posts at a Flying J Truck Stop. Per time zone, it is 12:42am. I am a little annoyed that I choose to stop at this station based on a “Wifi Hotspot” ad. Oh, sure it is, but as soon as you connect the DNS is redirected to ask for money. Bastards. I will have to save this as text and post it later.
I stopped to get online because the other day my website seems to have gotten “more secure”. AKA, I got screwed again, and once again can not use php variables to load things on my site. I did not realize till just tonight that, none of my videogames (or any of the pulldown menus, or ANY of the old design) work.
I didn’t care that the old design wasn’t working, but it really chapped my ass to know that none of the pulldown menu’s or video games would work.
Ok, I had something else to add to this, however at this point I was writing this post into the notepad at the truck stop and some trucker showed up and started playing psp and we got to talking. I lost my train of thought, but will instead tell you about the conversations we had…
In another post…. at another time, since I am now actually in Louisiana and tired from driving. Tomorrow I will tell that story, and the story of my $250 car wash (not a nice story).
Time in WI
Friday, January 5th, 2007 | Life | No Comments
So glad it wasn’t snowing / (or rather that the roads weren’t covered in salt). It was actually above freezing most of the time I was there as well (bonus).
Since I have been in WI, I have seen many friends (and slept at 9 different places), and had a pretty good time. Though hard to leave everybody again, being in Wisconsin again made me realize that I don’t really belong there any more. That doesn’t mean that Arizona is the place for me for sure, but Wisconsin is not. Sorry, it’s cold, and boring and doesn’t really change.
I think I will stick to visiting
