Any idea why my eyelid is freaking out?

Sunday, October 29th, 2006 | Life | 5 Comments

Yeah, so also I have been having these weird eyelid spasms. My left eyelid twitches at random points throughout the day. It has been happening for over a week now. It doesn’t happen often, but it’s daily and I am not sure WTF is going on? If you ever have heard of something like this let me know, I have lifted the lid and find no creatures living underneath, and I can see just peachy. It’s just starting to piss me off.

I sold the Lumina the other day to a guy who called 45 seconds after it posted on craigslist.org, If you aren’t already using craigslist, START

DOH! I just realized I didn’t do any laundry today. Our dryer sucks-ass and needs you to run 2 or 3, 50 min cycles. I am not going to do it now ;(

Another Day Burned

Sunday, October 29th, 2006 | Life | No Comments

Well, I spent another day off working on my website. It was just bothering me not having some of the features. I wanted to get the search engines up, and fix the “full screen” thing (currently the only examples of this fix are the skeleton and the now centered fridge). The full screen thing will allow me to make a design-in-a-design which will be very convenient for SO many things.

I added 84 new artworks to site. I was going to put just the “dark” artwork on site, new and old, however I decided that I was more concerned about working on actual features of the site than I was about making it evil for just a couple days since I have been changing the new default colors and everything still. Since my css file is still changing it would be a pain in the ass to make one for halloween and then have to re-convert the new one to work with the site again. Nevermind, just smile and nod.

For the search engines, I will probably add more. Anyways there is a new movie / tv search. I had to remove bigscreen.com since it never found movie listings for where I live now. New one finds them for everywhere as far as I can tell. Remember kids, just type in the box and hit enter…

I also added the rss feeds back to the page and fixed all the links on the “old design” so if you happen to go to it, all the links there work now. Again it’s only temporary until I can convert the pages. I thought I would get my new PC Repair page made today, but it will have to wait now as I am going to sleep.

Dance, Dance

Ok, so I got called to work before I could finish halloween-izin-da-site. HOWEVER. I did manage to get one part of it working. Click on the skeleton icon to see it. I was going to make that load on the page by default but I discovered older versions of firefox and ie might have problems with it. (You did see the message I had posted on the site about downloading firefox 2 and ie 7 right? ??).

Anywho, gotta go, will try to fix more links and add back features soon.

Oh, and I also have pictures of my house on the site. Don’t have time to link to them now, but you can browse them at http://www.thesmartass.info/img/mini/

I got it launched, finally after flat out ignoring the site since june, it’s launched, and I even made my today deadline.

It’s missing some links and sections right now, the old ones should be fairly easy to add. I deleted all the “questions” added to the ask-a-smartass section since the last time I answered. Also, I did not get the halloween makeover finished, will add different music, art, and one other yet to be mentioned item this week for sure.

Currently no RSS feed list for the blog, that will change, hopefully I can get to it before long, but today has been the first time I have had to work on this site for a LONG time so don’t hold your breath. Yes, I will add back the search engines (and more of them) etc…

Just wait and enjoy the simplicity of new design.

Expect New Site Launch, Today?

Sunday, October 22nd, 2006 | Helpful | No Comments

I fixed one of the really nasty bugs that was in my new site design, before this bug was fixed I wasn’t willing to launch site because It would of required my website to have “instructions for usage” to get sections to load. (since you would of had to click twice). Now that that’s done, I will be able to add some of the other touches to it, and can at least put up a temporary working sega/nes solution (since i still can’t get the new ajax menu system to load games.. grr..) using an iframe.

Ok what does this mean to you? Nothing, ok that’s not true. When I launch it I plan to make it a Halloween version, which might either scare or excite some of you…

Good times, using my 1 day off to work on this page so be happy.

98 Lumina (SOLD)

Friday, October 20th, 2006 | Helpful | No Comments

*UPDATE*
Sold to guy who called 30 seconds after ad got posted for cash, delivered car within 1 hour of posting on craigslist.

1998 Chevy Lumina 4 door sedan:
123k Miles,
Automatic,
$2000
includes: cruise, cold A/C, bitchin’ mp3/cd/dvd/aux&line in/ stereo system. I have fixed everything that was wrong with the car all the way down to the stupid missing emergency button. I just had a 3 stage hard-core fuel injection system cleaning done on it, and paid $400 to get a brand new ignition, key and well pretty much everything inside the steering column has been replaced in the last couple months.

I also yanked out the super-annoying security system. It hadn’t been working in awhile, but when fixing other problems I discovered it wasn’t working only because of a corroded fuse. Replaced the fuse only to remember how much I hated this off-brand pos security, and I removed entire system. Trust me, it’s better this way.

Only problems are:
-It has crack in window, didn’t feel like replacing entire window for a second time since moving to AZ, so I just ignored it. With comprehensive insurance you can just wait a week or so and then make claim and get it fixed free.
-1 tire is newer than other 3, so tread is uneven, feels like breaks are uneven but they are only 3-4 months old.
-Interesting ‘crayon-meets-sun, created stain’ in back seat

Figured I would post this on my site first, perhaps don’t know anybody who wants it, but there is nothing really wrong with the car except that it’s not as trendy as my new mini cooper. As soon as my friend gets back from his vacation I will get some pictures of old car as well as new one on here.

Marijuana Delays Alzheimer’s, Alters Cause of Symptoms

Saturday, October 7th, 2006 | Helpful | 1 Comment

I was amused when I saw this. However take it with a grain of salt since the cause of Alzheimer’s is still unknown.

A new study shows that the active ingredient in marijuana may preserve a crucial neurotransmitter, and so stave off the effects of Alzheimer’s disease, according to scientists at the VW Microbus Institute for Herbal Research.

Those afflicted with Alzheimer’s suffer from memory loss, impaired decision-making, and diminished language and movement skills.

The study showed that when an Alzheimer’s patient smokes pot, the active ingredient preserves the neurotransmitter and blocks clumps of protein that can inhibit memory and cognition.

“The dope smoking Alzheimer’s patient still suffers from memory loss, impaired decision-making, and diminished language and movement skills,” according to one unnamed scientist, “but it’s no longer a terrible disease that’s causing the symptoms, so you don’t have that stigma of being a victim.”

Firefox 2.0 RC2 finally good enough

Saturday, October 7th, 2006 | Life | No Comments

Ok, so it’s not the final version, but with this release most of my plugins work again and the tabbed browsing is good enough that i can just uninstall tabs mix plus. (though if you go to this note you need to hold ALT when you click enter on the search box to open your search results in new tab). It supports more code, and so far i haven’t had any crashes, problems with it at all. There are many new additions, and they are all very subtle but helpful when you need something.

It won’t auto-update to this unless you are already using a beta of firefox 2, so just go to filehippo and download it: http://www.filehippo.com/download_firefox/.

In other browser news you can download a release candidate of IE7, it is very shiny and matches with their new office 2007 beta’s new look, but still a big ball of garbage for web designers who were hoping for oh, i don’t know…. support for several year old specifications to web language standards…. those cock gobblers….

I have had to fix a few computers recently who had downloaded ie7 and it caused problems for them, so do it at your own peril. I have it on my pc and it’s fine, but then again, i don’t open it much since i am using firefox 2
