So today I needed to run some errands. I had to get a hole patched in my tire, then get my alignment fixed, go to the post office to mail Paul a dvd that I had unknowingly stolen, go to the bank (since it’s aready time to pay rent again) etc…

Well funny story, the guys I went to for alignment, couldn’t fix my alignment. They said… yes, it definately pulls to the right, but it is actually body work that is causing it and they could not fix that. They did however tell me that it wasn’t effecting my tires at all (which I have a hard time believing), but just to be thorough they rotated my tires for free and didn’t charge me for the alignment (or lack there of).

Well then my motherboard finally showed up~!!!!! Yeah, Yippie, WOOHOO… I can finally stop using this ram-lacking, no-multitasking, whore of a laptop!

I took my sweet time assembling the computer to make sure it was grounded well, and that everything was just perfect. When I was finally ready to turn it on, the video didn’t work. This did NOT make me happy!!!! I spent a bunch of time troubleshooting it and nothing seemed to help. So I called MSI and talked with their tech support for awhile.

Their tech support was unable to figure out any problems so they wanted me to send it back AGAIN. I mean the guy had me pull every component out, and even pull the motherboard out of the case just to try to test this, but it did not help.

Well I had one more thought that he didn’t and I pulled off the processor cooling device and noticed that the processor was stuck to it and seemed to have too much thermal paste. So I cleaned most of that off and tried it very quickly without a cooling device (do not ever do this for more than 30 seconds or the processor will overheat). It turned on, so I turned the computer off and realigned everything and got the system up and running, extremely happy to not have to send it back (of course still annoyed that I had just taken everything apart and had to put it all back together).

Well I installed XP, didn’t have any problems while it installed, and seemed to get all my software running without any problems at all. Towards the end of the night it crashed… once… but only once, and perhaps it was my own fault for installing one of the corrupted pieces of software, since I know everything was bad on my appz, but I installed one thing anyways thinking it might have been small enough to avoid crc errors.

Well whatever, I am glad to have it back and working and will be very happy to not have to write computer rant posts anymore….

Chile Relleno

Today I wanted to get some good food so I suggested to my roommate that we go out for dinner. He had been feeling kind of sick so I figured he wouldn’t be interested but he was. So I thought, how about UNO’s. I mean I always liked UNO’s and it’s hard to screw up deep dish pizza. So we looked up where the nearest one was and went.

Upon getting there we discovered that the location had “moved” to a new building. We went to where they had “moved” only to not find it. There were lots of other places to eat so we decided to just head back towards the house and stop at the first half-ass ok looking place.

That happened to be Mi Amigo’s. There we were given some tortilla chips and salsa… Neither of which tasted very good to me. Well upon looking over the menu I decided to go with the Chile Relleno. I had heard much hype over it from a certain member of this blog in the past, and figured now was the time to try it.

Well it was good. It was very good in fact. However there was a catch. Perhaps it was just conflict from the lagger I had ordered with dinner, but I will never really know…. See tonight was my night to go running. It was also gorgeous outside and I could of hardly come up with an excuse NOT to run.

Turns out my body didn’t really want me to run. I couldn’t take very deep breaths and the further I went the more prevalent the taste of Chile Relleno was (especially since I was burping more than breathing). Now I couldn’t puss out and just walk home, because that would ruin my night of exercise. So I huffed it out for probably 3-4 miles and got back feeling nauseous, but happy to have completed my run.

My friend Dan always said “it’s not a good run unless you throw up at the end“, but I always believed this to be bullshit (and I should know). I still will not rate my running experience as being good, and I was glad that I didn’t actually throw up… But I will think twice before I eat Chile Relleno on an exercise night.

Let Tradition DIE!!!

I never understood why people make up stupid traditions and then follow them for generations over. I mean, maybe if it has personal meaning and you laugh at whatever the tradition is… Kind of like an inside joke shared between you and your family then sure… But why follow a tradition that other people have, just for the sake of following one.

See tonight I was playing Destiny of an Emperor. I know, big shocker. Well I passed by some blue water in the game (which most of the time is not blue since I normally hack the color palet to be totally different) and I realized for no sake at all, that I had just gotten the Old/New/Blue thing. No I didn’t really give a shit that it was a wedding tradition at all, in fact I was kind of annoyed that my mind would come up with something so stupid out of the blue (yeah…. I admit it, the pun was intended). See I had

  • Something Old: This game I have played WAY WAY TOO MUCH over my lifetime is very old.
  • Something New: Every time I play the game I set new challenges to give myself, like the time I played it in mandarin chinese. Well this time I played the game on my psp, upside down. You think playing a role playing game with guys with funny Han Dynasty names is hard right side up? Try to flip the entire psp upside down….).
  • Something Blue: Do I really have to mention the water actually being blue again?

Now… We all do stupid things. Obviously I am no exception seeing as how tonight I played an OLD game upside down, and if that wasn’t enough, I also shaved my head, but come on… Why-O-Why do we have to have stupid traditions that aren’t even our own, or stupid phrases that have been around for longer than our life (don’t look a gift horse in the mouth).

I would rather just deal with my own stupid issues than have to have worthless crap passed down from generation to generation floating through my head only to sadly pass to some other poor shmuck’s head only for him to do the same….

So please… Just LET TRADITION DIE!~!

Ok, so now that you know that, I am recommending you check out “Taking Back Sunday“. I used to think EMO was just a fancy new term for soft rock, but alas, it’s a fancy new term for alternative rock mixed with punk, and don’t follow the definition too close, it’s not all that hardcore…. I mean all music adapts and steals from other formats to make their music better. I suppose now that it has been labeled they will go back and relabel a bunch of other bands like Stroke 9, Sum41, Good Charlotte and Eve 6 to be EMO as well.

I guess it doesn’t matter what it’s called, so long as it’s good. I mean you all heard me say that I liked a Christian Rock station (alas may it rest in peace)… Good fucking music comes in all genre’s (and even occasionally in Country), and we should just stop pigeon-holling (there’s another dumb phrase we just get used to saying) everything into little categories to try to define who/what they are.

Here are the top 50 artists that random people have labeled EMO on last.fm… which will also prove that the definition is either VERY loose or, not well understood…. (the column with the numbers is just how many plays it got today)

P.S. BTW…. I should mention in case my spelling seems to have gotten worse since the new blog appeared, it’s probably because it has… I no longer have a spellchecker. I tried to install one, but it requires my server to have a newer version of php installed and my request for that has pretty much been shot down.

X-Men Dissapointment

Ok so tonight I went out to BW3’s to watch UFC 60 (Ultimate Fighting Championship).? BW3’s was dead when we got there since we got there way to early, so we decided to go hang out at some dive bar and play pool for awhile.? Well my new found dart skills haven’t helped me any with pool at all, but it helped kill the time.

When we got back to BW3’s over an hour before the pay per view was to start, it was now PACKED.? We were lucky to get the last remaining booth.? Some of Rob’s friends showed up a little later and we all drank and watched the fights.? Well when that got done I still wanted to see X-Men so we went to a theater that was only a block or two away and managed to get bar seats (it’s the small things in life that give me happiness) and settled in for the movie.

Ok, for the hype of being the best X-Men movie ever… It really wasn’t at all.? I mean how can you fuck up an x-men movie anyways?? Especially since it the plot called for a war!!!! ? Well folks, it is possible to totally screw it up, and I am dissapointed and wish it would have been a matinee so I could of saved a few dollars…

I’d tell you some of the stupid shit they did in it, but they would all be plot spoilers and I’d hate to ruin your nice free telesync download that you will probably do now that you know the movie isn’t all that and a bag of chips…

So yeah, if you need a movie to go to the theaters to watch this week, make it DaVinci Code and you will get an interesting plot AND a hot foreign chick.

The Annoying Compatibility Issues

So I have spent all sorts of time learning / working on AJAX. The new design of the site was supposed rely heavily upon it. However I have been fighting with it all this week only to decide that there are too many limitations to the scripts I need.

For example: You can’t load a full page with AJAX, the headers can’t be loaded which means I can’t have it load scripts inside of them…. ding ding ding. Then I was going to use another AJAX script to load all the breakout sections of this site into a lightbox type of thing. However that is limited by the type of content you can put in as well. I don’t need scripts in them, but It won’t let me put flash or a few other things in it…. Which makes it NOT HELPFUL to me again.

I have this vision for what the site is supposed to be and I thought I knew how to do it, but now I am thinking I need to take a different approach. I am going to keep trying to get it to be how I want, but it’s going to take me longer. Not to mention that I have been going bonkers trying to do all my work on my roommate’s laptop, which DOES NOT have the juice to multi-task like I need it to. I am still waiting for them to send me my bloody replacement mobo, and I always end up talking to the same asshole at MSI who likes to “accidently” hang up on me a lot when I ask him why they are being so inefficent!

I said I would launch site this week and I CAN… but you really don’t want me to with the state it’s in. Basically you would see shell of new design, with the old sections, loading a somewhat old way. So for now, just enjoy what’s here (like this new blog that everybody except 1 person was too lazy to register for).

So, I’m Good @ Darts Now…

Last night I wanted to see the new X-Men movie, so I called up Rob and said we should go to Joe’s Crab Shack and then out to see the movie.? Now, I haven’t been to a “Joe’s Crab Shack” since my mom got remarried.? I recalled liking their food and atmosphere, so it seemed like a good choice to go to.

The food was pretty good, and the T-Shirts the employees wore were hilarious (example:? Got Crabs?) It was however very loud there and I could hardly hear our waiter.? I think I really liked it when I was younger because they had let me drink underage ; )

Well, when that was done we went over to the theater and tried to get tickets to the movie.? It was sold out for another hour, which seemed reasonable to me but not Rob who whined that he had to work in the morning so a 10pm showing was to late. This seemed somewhat unreasonable to me since even when I had a job I would of been willing to watch a movie at 10pm, but I dropped it and we went out for a few beers at a bar he had told me about.

From his description I was surprised to see that all the bartenders were guys, and the music was played as kind of an irish jig or something… But they did have a “Real” dartboard.? Yes folks, a bar that doesn’t charge for darts AND trusts drunk people with metal darts!

That being open we laid claim to it and played darts until 10:30.? I am kind of happy, I have gotten quite good at darts.? It used to be back in Wisconsin I would never beat Rob at darts, but now he has to actually compete with me.? In this case I won 3 out of 5 games, but all of them we both did really well.? One of them we think was only 10-12 rounds.? I am still somewhat lousy at closing 20 and 18 (top half of board), but I am good at closing everything else including the bullseye.

Job Pushed Back AGAIN

So I get a call from GoDaddy saying… You can’t start on June 5th, it just hasn’t worked out…. We don’t know the exact date we will be able to get you on the schedule either.? We THINK it will be on the 19th.

I was a little upset at this and she asked if I was still interested and I did say yes, but pointed out to them that it was a little bit frustrating planning my life around a start date and then having it not be there.

Oh, BTW in case it wasn’t obvious, if you used my RSS/Atom Feed (or live bookmarks in firefox) to find out when there were new posts you will need to delete that and add the new one, since the old feed still exists (as backup) but will never be updated again.

All My TV Shows Are Going Away

So everything worth watching has either hit a season finale this week, or it has ENDED FOREVER.? I am a bit annoyed at this, and since I don’t have any sort of TV subscription (No satellite, and cable is NOT AN OPTION here), I can’t just fill in time with random discovery channel shows.

  • Alias -> Gone FOREVER… Bastards… Especially now that she’s hot again (not pregnant)
  • My Name is Earl -> Season Ended, but I don’t recall seeing any sort of crazy “last episode of the season madness” in it
  • Lost -> Season Ended, this will be back for sure.? I think they will be Lost for years to come.
  • Smallville -> Lana is still hot, but the season is ended
  • Dead Zone -> I haven’t seen one of these since the “special” in December
  • Eyes -> The show managed to get 13 episodes but it got them in UK when we wouldn’t air them and will be discontinued now
  • Derren Brown – Tricks of the Mind ->6 episodes is NOT a season, come on!
  • 24 -> Season Ended.? Damn What a Season!? IT will be hard to top…
  • Prison Break – Season Ended with them being chased down while their airplane flew off without them.
  • House -> Season Ended.? This is such a great “smartass” show
  • Grey’s Anatomy -> Season Ended, Those dirty doctors, I tell ya…
  • NCIS -> Season Ended, or possibly entire show since main character left.
  • Numb3rs -> Season Ended
  • Las Vegas -> Season Ended, it will come back for sure with all the hotties on it.
  • Bones -> Season Ended? This one I don’t really care about, it’s ok, but not great and will probably not come back for another season.
  • CSI -> I only watch orignal…. and season ended but it doesn’t matter because I didn’t watch it… I did however archive it and will probably have to watch it now that all other shows are gone!
  • Family Guy -> Season might have ended… or it might have 1 left…
  • Supernatural ->Season ended, I could live without this, but it’s not bad.

I am just hoping that these shows don’t end up like so many other great shows that have been shitcanned.? Like Jake 2.0 (think of it as a newer bionic man), Fastlane (they put “kelly” from saved by the bell in charge of some undercover crooks turned cops…), Jake in Progress (don’t name your show anything to do with Jake, I know of 3 shows that only made it half a season with Jake in the title), Brimstone (So satan, you say you will let me come back from the dead if I just kill off the people who escaped from hell…. sounds fair….), Firefly (well they at least made a movie “Serenity” to conclude firefly), LAX (heather locklear is the hottest 44 year old woman i’ve ever seen), and John Doe, which if you have ever spent any amount of time around me I would have forced you to watch.

If you have never seen any of these shows, thanks to the magic of bittorrent, you can watch all of them without commercials, so why not!?? Still, don’t be upset with me when they end never to return again.? Family Guy is the ONLY American show I have ever seen brought back to life after cancelation.? They I wouldn’t be surprised to see Firefly come back to life now that Sci-Fi channel bought the full show rights, because it would be more popular than the other crap they show on there ; )

I guess I can sit around and twiddle my thumbs… I hear it’s good for circulation…
