Ok so you have probably noticed that over the weekend I added some “pixel ads” to my website format. What you probably didn’t notice is that I spent a great deal of time creating new “one page” articles that are full of google ad’s.

Hell for me, using firefox with a well configured adblock I don’t even see google ad’s. However MOST people do. So I had a system where I was paying google to put ad’s on the side of search results that sent people to the pages where I had my article / more google ad’s.

I was just figuring it out, and found something that had almost nobody advertising on it, and was going to be able to start earning money from my websites with only a couple mins a day of maintence.

Until last night…. I had just figured this damn system out and then the google people go and say “fuck you” to EVERYBODY who was using this system. They made their “quality check” system SO damn hardcore that none of my new websites were able to get ANY search traffic.

The only way I can get the traffic back is to up my bid. I was offering 5c a click, which was good enough on most things before. Now words that may have absolutly nobody advertising on it require $5 a click for them to even show people my ad.

I put up an ad for thesmartass as well since there is lots of quality content on it to see how bad they fuck me there….

They wanted 50c to advertise under the words James Lyngaas!!!! Granted, I decided if people were actually searching for that, I want them to be able to find me, so that, and smartass I actually paid that. Yes it’s better than $5 a click, but before nobody was advertising under those words so a 1c bid was enough to get my ad posted!!!!!!!

I imagine there are many countless fortunes that will be lost with this new system. It makes a 1 page website completly worthless. I get it, they want all their search results to be relavent. Or better yet for them, they want everybody to pay $5 a click.

Well google, I don’t like taking it up the ass! I’m sure there are countless other people out there who don’t want to take it up the ass either!!!!! So they will either change it back to how it was, or they will loose 50% of their revenue from adwords!

Lets hope everybody wants to put pixel ad’s on thesmartass so that I don’t have to worry about it, but still…. This was going to be an extra stream of income, and now it’s not!
