What doesn’t kill you makes you blistered…
Tuesday, June 7th, 2005 | Uncategorized | No Comments
Katie and I had decided to go out tonight. Well sort of, we went to Boulders Climbing Gym. Now just to go even once is 16 bucks a person! Normally gym’s etc.. will give you some sort of free trial, but I guess a place with no air conditioning needs to get lots of money so that they can buy it eventually.
I guess that was fun, I like climbing, and damn was it a good workout. Towards the end of when we were there, only 2 walls that we were allowed to climb were left. So I started going up this. I was really fatigued so when my feet slipped off and I was hanging just by my hands it made it very hard to get to the top. I made it, but as soon as I grabbed the top rock I slipped off.
I guess that’s why they force you to have two people with one tightening the rope as you climb up.
We were hungry, so we left and went to Milio’s for Subs. It was located right by the American Family building I worked at a couple years prior, so I took her there to eat our subs. They spend over a million dollars on landscaping every month. So there is some half mile pond with fish, etc… it’s very nice looking.
We had been planning to go back, but besides being fatigued, I noticed that I had blisters on my hands. So decided to just call it a day.
I went to the hottub, and she left… Some excuse about how the guy she is moving to California to be with wouldn’t appreciate that. Her loss.
Added a couple oddball things to my website, the fridge, yes a collective magnetic poetry thing… very odd, and 3 layers of Fish. If you think that sounds weird hearing me talk about it, try using it.
One of those website days…

When I sit down to work on a website, I tend to do just that. I forget to eat, go to appointments, etc… Well today I skipped my window tinting appointment. This I was probably going to cancel anyways.
The car would look amazing with very dark windows all the way around, but I am already a cop magnet, and don’t want more tickets so I had decided to go with 50% all the way around for consistency and to be legal. However I just don’t think that is really dark enough to rationalize spending that kind of money on it.
Anywho, today was a website day, so I added some images to the artwork/customize page. Then I decided to add another emulator to the page. So I went about making pages and making a list of 100 Turbo Grafix 16 games. However I can’t get it to work.
There is nothing wrong with the emulator, but it’s very old and there is no documentation. The original author from what I can tell hardset a path where the games directory needs to be on the server, if you look at the code from somebody running the emulator you will see they have no path in front of the games, so it’s relative to wherever the java applet is.
I know this much, but I can’t figure out where that path is. I spent hours trying to get this damn thing to work, and trying to figure out where the other people using it put their roms, but to no avail ;(
So I finally caved in and emailed the guy who runs everyvideogame.com to see if he would tell me. He helped me get the save games working on the nintendo. I knew he would want another link back to his website for his help again, so I offered him one. However he has not responded.
I even saw him on an IM, but got no response from him ;( I don’t feel like spending another day trying random folder names till I find where the games are stored, so I would prefer he just tell me, but it’s a case of sit around and wait again.
If you want to see the page I am making for yourself, go to thesmartass.info, and click the invisible link below .The Fridge.
About #$^%$#^ Time

Yeah, after a day and a half of no internet connection, I am back online. I suppose now I need to backdate a couple blog entries, but I am hungry so I will do it later…
Good times, really!
The No Internet Blues

So today internet was down for my area. It was down for the entire day! Now I had been planning to work on my website today, however I write my sites in PHP, which requires me to either upload it to view it, or to make my own computer a server with php support, which I did not want to do.
So I tried to think of things to do besides the net. I kept thinking of stupid little things that would only take me 10 seconds to lookup on the net, that would give me all day projects. However that was a dumb thing to keep thinking up, so finally I called my friend Chris.
I went over there and showed off my wheels, to which he thought they looked great but pointed out something… Apparantly there were center caps to these wheels, that had been on the wheels before painting, that were not on the car now. He’s right, so now I am trying to track them down.
Either the lady who painted them set them somewhere, or one of the places that worked on removing or putting on tires took them off.
Went for a pretty decent jog when I got home. Was annoyed to see that internet was still down. Listened to some music, went to bed. Woohoo
Wasn’t that fun? No, not really….

1st half of day:
Went to Devil’s Lake, climbed some rocks… Took the ferry Home. Good Times.
Evening:
Went to Perkins with Katie, on way there I saw this crazy huge accident. A semi driver had a heart attack and drove straight into this down hill gas station and kept going… He actually shoved 2 cars that were parked in front of the conjoined resturant THROUGH the side of the building! There were lines of cops and of people there taking pictures. I mean it’s not everyday you see a semi sticking outside of a building. Went to the movie The Longest Yard. It was good, people will bitch that remakes are never as good, but Adam Sandler is a funny mofo, and I liked it. Katie left in her own car, I was bored…
Late Night:
Night ended with me going out with Keith and his beautiful girlfriend and drinking myself stupid.
2:57am:
Hottub, alone… Yes it’s still enjoyable alone, though I don’t recommend it drunk as the heat speeds up the effects of the alcohol.
Ya do the Cantenna!

Well it’s about #$^#$ time! The lady finally finished my wheels… So today I went and had to get new tires and have the wheels put on. She missed a couple spots but the price is right…. I just have to fix her computer in exchange for the wheels.
I got Keith of Prophecy Auto to go with me to Weber Tire so that I could get a reseller’s discount, which gave me 4 new performance tires for $283, which is fantastic.
So now all I need to do is tint out the windows, and buy some different lights. I stopped down to TNT tinting to make an apointment for monday to have windows tinted… It will look amazing in all black.
After that I went to the movie “the lords of dogtown” with my sister. It was a pretty good flick. I wish I had this one kid’s career. In this movie he was a flirty skateboard legend, in his last movie (the girl next door), he got to make out with the most beautiful girl in the world!
So I have discovered a way for my sister to save $57/month. Her neighbor decided to let her use her internet connection by leaving it unencrypted and open. That was very nice of her, however her signal isn’t very strong…
With a solid 5 minuites of research I discovered how to make a really powerful wifi antenna for under $5, yes that’s right… a CANTENNA! Now I haven’t built it yet, but I think I will end up building many of them, and will probably write my own article on thesmartass.
For now you can learn to build your own by clicking here. Yes this might just be the coolest thing ever!

So I had to help my sister move again today… This is the 4th time in 5 months. However as I predicted it was easy this time, she felt sorry for me and the other guy who moved her the last few times, and moved everything except half a truckload.
For breaking a sweat she decided it would be best to buy me Outback Steakhouse. This was definitely a good call as the ratio of work to good food was more than comparable, so I will eliminate the “I moved my sister for the 5th time” story from my arsenal of favors owed.
Better than expected….

Ya ever have one of those days where you are really tired all day, but even when you give in and try to take a nap or something you can’t fall asleep!? Well those times suck. I was tired all day, and didn’t get down to mechanic’s to work on oil pressure gauge or anything.
I did do a bunch of things on my website that took forever, like adding 30 new artworks, adding tons of links, putting back the fading logo etc.. but honestly most people will not notice anything.
Oh well, I did however get to go see my 2 painted wheels. I was ready for them to suck and be really nasty. Well I looked them over pretty good and although there are areas where there is “texture” from the old clear coating, they still look pretty good. Yes it would be better with no texture, but it doesn’t matter because they still look 50 times better painted than they did unpainted. So now I just need to wait even longer for the woman to finish the last 2 wheels.
If I am lucky she will show up on Friday and finish them, but lucky has never been part of my skillset, so only time will tell.
Tomorrow I get to help my sister move. This shouldn’t be to bad though, she knew that me and the other guy who moved her the last 3 times this year are burned out on it so she moved everything except the really big stuff, so it shouldn’t take to long.
Still no call from the girl at the wedding. I really shouldn’t have expected one, but next time I am slightly intoxicated if you happen to be around and I am hitting on a girl, remind me to get her number instead of letting her get mine…. I said I wouldn’t hold my breath, but I can’t seem to get past it. Which is really weird since I don’t ever dwell or worry about anything. Life tends to happen as it will and you either move on or end up miserable. Eh, I’ll figure it out.
