I got up and looked over at the evil computer that was turned on. It was not my computer since I turned mine off the other day to install new cooling device (grr) and have not been willing to put old device back on yet.
Anyways I worked on this repair job some more. This perticular computer I was doing in trade for having my wheels powder coated. Which is an annoying story because Paul made me pay him the $40 for the shop cost. However my original understanding had been that all of the money owed was owed to the lady who painted the wheels, so I was just going to fix her computer in complete trade.
However now I owed paul $40 and her another $40 so I worked my ass off on this computer and wrote up an invoice for it. I charged her for $3hours (which is $40/hour), I did not charge her for any of the research time, and I think the 3 hours of labor was an underestimate. Hoever in the end I deducted $40 that I owed on the wheels, and $20 for a bullshit discount I made up called “first time customer”. which left her with a bill of $60, since I had paid paul the shop cost I saw nothing wrong with this.
However Paul freaked out that he was not going to give the lady back the computer with an invoice on it and how it was bullshit that i would charge her at all since it was “a favor between two people”. He made such a big fucking deal over the computer and how I should not be charging her at all, but there is no way. That computer was FUCKED UP. I mean there were nearly 100,000 trojan’s/virus on it. It was covered in spyware etc… and I managed to get rid of all of them without erasing her computer, without destroying the multiple profiles that were on it etc…
If the lady has a problem with my price, then let her call me and tell me. It is not paul’s business anymore since he already got paid for his part. If she doesn’t pay, well I loose a customer, but I do not think that this is an unfair deal at all. $40 an hour is CHEAP for quality computer repair work, and I nocked $60 off the price etc… Well whatever.
I was supposed to go install a new power supply into somebody’s computer so I went over there. Sadly I could not get the power supply to even turn on. So I appologized for that and offered to get rid of my labor charge and order a new one. So I will have to do that sometime next week now.
I then left to put an ad in the local newspaper for a month. It says “Onsite computer repair, $40/hour call 843-3123). To publish that ad only cost me $36 for 4 weeks! That should recoupe the cost that I am pretty sure I will loose when Paul goes to the lady with her computer and pretty much convinces her to have a problem with me charging her (which he already said he was going to do, [ass] all he has to do is say if she has questions or concerns to call me).
From there I was going to go to the bank, but I took the exit on the interestate that went the opposite direction. Seeing this as divine intervention I decided to skip the bank and go straight for Devil’s Lake. [Shit it is hot out, perhaps I should reconsider? Nah, to late]
I choose to go to the opposite side of the lake and climb the rocks over there. I always try to choose the most difficult path, but on the way up this time I actually had a first.
The first time I have ever been scared that I may not be able to get up or down without hurting myself. It looked more doable before I jumped onto it. After a couple steps up I no longer had any footholds, I looked up and down but could not find a safe way to get to either.
Now I finally made it up that mofo by wedging my arm into a rock and using my other hand to pull as hard as I could until I was able to get my stomach on the rock up top. That is the closest I have ever come to achieving my life fitness goal of a Pullup (hey i have arms built for typing ok). I took a picture but it’s blury and does not express enough fear :)
